Background

Heather was born in Southern Illinois but moved to Florida at an early age. She graduated from Florida State University in 1998 but remained in Tallahassee, Florida until 2002. While in Tallahassee, she worked as a legislative analyst/lobbyist for the Department of Corrections. In the fall of 2002, she returned to her family in West Palm Beach where she taught 8th grade American History before beginning law school at Barry University School of Law. While at Barry, she worked for a semester as an intern for the Honorable Judge Walter Komanski of the Eighth Judicial Circuit. She also spent a semester as an intern for the Office of the State Attorney in the eighth circuit. In law school she devoted her time to the trial team, serving as President and winning top advocate awards. She went to work for the Office of the Public Defender in the sixth circuit in August 2006. She handled all types of misdemeanors and felonies, including drug trafficking, firearms cases, and sexually batteries. She joined Leavengood & Nash in October of 2010 focusing on Criminal, Family, Mortgage Foreclosure, and Creditor Harassment/Unfair Debt Collection law.
